A passport valid for at least three months after the date of return with at least two blank pages
A passport must be in good condition with no stains
For Non-South African passports must have a residence permit valid for at least three months
-Fully completed visa application form signed and dated by the applicant
-Photocopy of an applicant ID Back and front if the card
-Copy of a previous Schengen visa if any
-Photo
Two passport-size photos in color not older than six months
-Flight booking
Round trip flight reservation with names,dates, flight numbers specifying arrival and departure date from the territories of the member states of Schengen
-Hotel booking
Copy of the confirmed hotel reservation with the applicant’s full name, hotel address, phone numbers, and dates of arrival and departure.
If an applicable copy of inter Schengen travel (Car rental/train/bus)
Please note that don’t confirm a flight booking until a visa is out
-Traveling insurance
A minimum coverage of 30 000 Euro
Medical treatment and repatriation included
Certificate of insurance valid for the entire duration of the intended stay
Policy number must state policy number, name of the insured applicant, covered dates as well as scheduled benefits( please allow for extra days for the embassy to be more flexible with the duration of the visa)
Important
*Conditions must be stated either on the insurance or on a separate visa letter.
No medical insurance connected to a credit card will be accepted
-Letter confirming Employment
A recent original and signed letter of employment from the employer in the country or residence addressed to the Swiss Embassy stating the monthly wages, purposes, and duration of the trip to Switzerland and the continuing employment after the period of leave with the specific date of returning to work.
No contract will be accepted
-Traveling with a minor
Both parents must sign the visa application form. The following is needed
*Certified copy of the minors’ unabridged birth certificate
*Certified copies of ID/Passport of parents
*Certified copies of Schengen visas of both parents( if in possession of and traveling with the child)
*If a minor travels alone; certified parental consent by both parents
*If the minor travel with one parent, the other parent must produce the certified consent,If only one parent has guardianship of the minor, the relevant court document/or death certificate must be presented
-Invitation letter from Switzerland
Invitation letter from a host in Switzerland, dated and signed with a copy of the valid Swiss residence permit or Swiss passport.If the host is a diplomat, provide a copy of the legitimation card and proof of employment in Switzerland.
The invitation letter must clearly identify the host and invitee(name, address, passport number, occupation, and permanent residence)the relation between the host and the invitee, the purpose of the visit, length of stay, and accommodation status(Where will the invitee stay and who pays for it)
Business Visa
-Invitation letter from Switzerland
The invitation letter must be signed by an authorized person according to the Swiss Registry of commerce. It should contain the following information
Name, first name, and date of birth of the person
Passport number of every person who is invited and their position
Purpose of visit
Length of stay with entry and departure dates
Who will cover the expenses for traveling and accommodation
In case a longer validity multiple entries visa is requested,it has to be explicitly requested by both companies in Switzerland and South Africa, mentioning the frequency of the foreseen meeting. Kindly note that the final decision lies however with the Swiss representation
